Facebook Family

Have the recent Facebook changes got you longing for the good-ole days? Want to change it back?

Families First on Facebook. A powerful connecting tool, we all use Facebook for family and friends. But the new FB layout now “defaults” your family to the bottom of your friends list.  If you, like me, prefer to see your family first on your facebook profile, put them back at the top of your list like this:

  1. Go to your Profile Page.
  2. On the left bar, identify the word “Friends” or “Family” under your photo.
  3. Click on the editor’s pencil icon that appears when you mouse over one of those words.
  4. Find “Featured Friends.”
  5. Left click on the word “Family” and drag it above “Friends”.
  6. Save.

Missing some friends? Facebook has a new algorithm for determining whose feeds appear in your News Feed. If you are missing people, try this:

  1. Go to your Home Page.
  2. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the Newsfeed.
  3. Click on Edit Options (right side).
  4. In the popup, click on the dropdown menu next to “Show Posts From.”
  5. Select “All Of Your Friends and Pages.”
  6. Save.

The great news is that our families can still be #1 and our friends are still our friends! FB just hid them all.

By the way, have you read Sane: Social Networking Success in 15 Minutes a Day? It’s a free eBook I wrote. CLICK HERE to request your copy.

Thanks for being my friend! I have loved Facebook for family, and I’ve also loved the ability to connect with thousands of friends worldwide through this social medium. I hope my tips help you “find back” some of your family and friends who’ve been MIA on Facebook.
