Keren’s Favorite Dinner Roll Recipes

My adult daughter, Keren, just emailed and asked me to send her the dinner roll recipes for her two favorites. As I typed them into the email, I wondered if YOU might be interested in trying a terrific new recipe? So, here they are:

Sallie Bahnmiller’s Dinner Rolls

1-1/2 cup evaporated milk (room temp)
1/4 cup sugar
2-1/4 teaspoon yeast
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
1 egg
1 egg yolk, reserve white
4 cups bread flour

Put evap milk and sugar in a bowl and sprinkle yeast on top.
Beat butter, salt and eggs together and add to yeast mixture.
Add flour and mix until smooth. Knead.
Let rise until double.
Punch down and shape into rolls.
Let rise until double.
Bake at 375 for 15 minutes.

(Rolls 4×5 in a 9×13″ pan works good.
Brush egg white over rolls before baking.)


Karen Fausher’s

1/2 cup warm water
1 tablespoon or 2 pkg dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar

Mix and set aside and let rise to fill cup.
In large bowl put –

2 cups warm water
1/2 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs

Add 2 cups flour and mix well.
Add yeast mixture and beat well with mixer.
Add enough flour to handle easily about 4-5 cups more.
Knead about 5-10 minutes.
Place in greased bowl and let rise until double.
Form into buns and let rise.
Bake @ 375 for about 15 minutes.
